Peak District
Outdoor sessions in the Peak District
Sheffield has a unique position as a city in being so close to a National Park. Although it can get busy, especially during the summer months, the Eastern moors, woodland and open pastures of the Peak District still offer plenty of quiet and wild places. And I can show them to you!
The primary Peak District location I work from is on the South West edge of the city, with fields, moorland, water and woodland - plus views. Whilst it is possible to get there by public transport, the time limitations and exact location would make this harder to arrange. However, there are plenty of great locations to choose from, so don’t let this stop you - we can discuss the most suitable location in our first session together.
Is this for me?
A Peak District outdoor session might be for you if:
You have some experience walking on rougher terrain, or feel ready to venture out of the city for the first time
You want to be somewhere that offers more wilderness and interaction with the elements
You have access to a car (or would like to find a public-transport accessible place to meet) and would like to explore further away from home
You have a reasonable level of fitness and mobility
You have the time and desire for a longer session to explore
Safety working outdoors
Having a therapy session outdoors is a little more unpredictable than being in a room or online, so I have various things in place to ensure that things go smoothly.
I conduct a full risk assessment of the location and activity before we start, as well as considering any additional needs either of us might have on an ongoing basis
I am Mountain Leader and Outdoor First Aid trained, with full insurance coverage, to ensure I am well equipped to guide you
We will discuss alternative options for bad weather days or any circumstance changes
We’ll discuss your experience and familiarity with the outdoors so that we can find the right location to meet
